Ankit Singha is a film director, screenwriter and a music composer, distinguished and known for his approach to humanism on film. He has been making films for nearly a decade. His interests are mainly in the portrayal of life and realism on film.
He spent his early life watching world cinema. Directors like Francois Truffaut, Jean Renoir, Satyajit Ray has inspired him. His main interest is the idea of telling a simple story in the most humanistic way.
"Death of a Mule" was born during one of the lowest ebbs of my life. A period when rejection and uncertainty seemed to be the only constants, mirroring the plight of the characters in the film. It was a time when I found myself asking, "Why not tell the story I already know?" Why not bring to light the profound struggle that artists often face?
The driving force behind this film was the need to unravel the intricate dance between art and the artist. It's a story that touches upon the pursuit of creative dreams, even when the world appears indifferent, and when adversity strikes unexpectedly. Through the lives of our characters, I sought to capture the raw essence of resilience, the fragile nature of artistic ambitions, and the enduring flame of the creative spirit.
It is a film that reflects my own experiences. A heartfelt homage to the many artists navigating the arduous path of rejection and self-discovery. It's a tale that which goes deep into the eternal tussle between an artist's fervor and the apathy of the world—a conflict that has left an indelible mark on my own artistic odyssey.
