Director Statement

Running Sunday Shorts Film Festival, means I've seen my fair share of short films, good and bad, and I couldn't believe a film like this hadn't been made yet. With all the 'poo stories' in the news at the time, I just decided now, if any, was the time to make DUMP.

After writing a lot for other people and having little to show for it, I thought DUMP would be cheap and simple enough to direct and produce myself. How wrong I was. Anyway, here we are, 5 months later, and I'm very excited to see if/how people respond to my sense of humour.

Yes, it's a comedy. Though it feels more like a thriller, about poo... So I'm saying that it's a Thillerdy, or a Thriller-Com, if you accept that.

During pre-production, I was lucky enough to gain the support of XFilm, who I worked with for a day and pitched my idea to. They hired the camera for us to shoot on, and that created more of a buzz around the production. The cast and crew are all friends who gave their time and amazing skills for free (and coffee).

I'm also using this film to launch my own production company, biglyFILMS, which I hope to make a feature film with in 2019.
