Director Statement

Cyberpunk 2077 Phoenix Program was initiated out of frustration from many people that work in the german film industry. Here in Germany, you will find almost no solid action movies. Especially not in a sci-fi setting. Besides that, we just wanted to make something that is truly our thing. Even if the story takes place in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, the story and of course the action is completely made by t7production and is loosely based on the story in the game.

We initially wanted to finance the whole on our own and at first it worked. But when Covid-19 hit Germany in March, we had to stop everything, pause the filming and hope for better days.
Fortunately, this forced break also gave us time to re-evaluate the dimensions of this project and also it’s possibilities. It gave us time to look for sponsors who were willing to carry the growing production costs, but even more important:

We were able to gather more and more artists and make them part of this passion project. The combination of people wanting to support us money- and manpower-wise gave the film the kick-start it needed to become what it is now. But the whole movie was still low budget. Cyberpunk 2077 - Phoenix Program was still a 100% passion project, only made for the sake to make a spectacular action movie.

But the most important reason for us was to give talented people a chance to work with industry professionals and bring people together.

Of course we saw the advantages in making a Cyberpunk 2077 fan movie. To deny that wouldn't be honest..

If you watch the film you will see how much love there is for Cyberpunk, Keanu Reeves, video games, movies in general etc.. The film is made for film and video game fans by film and video game fans.

We wanted to set an example! If you dare to dream, if you set yourself a clear goal and just never give up, you can accomplish anything. No matter the given circumstances. You can create something big out of something small! This message is nothing new, but always needs to be strengthened. We wanted to show that it's true. And this message is much more important to us than anything else.
