Cowboy Reckoning

Cowboy Reckoning is a short film about two warring factions in a small isolated town in the contemporary American West. The narrative is told in reverse to give a unique perspective on the cycle of violence.

It was shot on 16mm reversal film and was crossed processed. A standard definition telecine was made from the negative and was edited digitally. The film was shot on location in the Bitterroot Valley and Bannack State Park in Montana.

Director Biography - John D. Nilles

John discovered his passion for filmmaking at an early age and has never wavered in the pursuit of realizing his vision. His great-great-great grandfather homesteaded in the Bitterroot Valley in Montana. Over a century later, in 2001, John founded With A Cause Productions in the same location.

The same ambitious and adventurous spirit possessed by his forefathers, compels John today. Over the past 20 years, he has directed short films, commercials, documentaries, corporate videos, animations, and music videos, but his primary focus is on feature films. He is particularly fond of Westerns and Science Fiction.

John currently lives with his wife in Montana. His latest feature, Saving For The Day, is being produced by With A Cause Productions and is slated to be completed later this year.
