Director Statement

The challenge was to make a short film during the time of self quarantine while staying inside my own shelter with people around me. The primary plan was to do something related to the pandemic itself but it seemed like a great opportunity to create something out of all this limitations of self isolation and social distancing. Hence "Convergent" was made, with a phone, and two actors.

The synopsis seems like a very generic idea for a horror short film and that is what amused me the most, because in the end the story takes a big turn that completely changes the ideology and the mood of the film. The common factors behind the paranoia and the dreading horrors become somehow more bizarre and like the previous film, creates more questions than it answers. And the disturbing aftermath is what inspired me to make this film.

The film might wonder between two general genres, horror and sci-fi; but for me,it is strongly related to cosmic horror. The fear of the unknown plays a big part in the end,in a very different way and that fear is demonstrated from a very twisted perception.

Is this a sequel to our previous film "The Conundrum"? I really can't say, maybe it is,maybe it isn’t. But I can assure that both of the incidents might occur in the same dimension somehow, our very own twilight zone where reality isn’t what it seems.
