Zhao Wu is a director from China and a recent graduate of MA Filmmaking at London Film School. She comes from an undergraduate degree background in Chinese Literature and she has always been interested in exciting and well-designed stories. She enjoys crime films and has loved mystery novels as well as detective films since she was a child. Setting up mysteries and guiding people to solve them is what she loves, and she hopes that she will be able to make attractive suspense films in the future.
Teenagers grow up when they start shedding their dependence on others and start taking responsibility for their own decisions - just like the protagonist Ziliang in this film. His great expectations of adulthood are impeded by pain and disappointment, and he has become confused and disillusioned. Coming-of-age is not only about flowers, suits, and fireworks. It is also a cold and sharp scalpel that cuts through the protective film between childhood and the real world.
