You are ten years old, you've just crawled into your grandparent's forgotten attic space, daylight pours in from a small window and the sound of rain pelting the roof is comforting because the house is warm. The old furniture, cardboard boxes, stacks of 8mm film, a headless sewing form, and the scent of aged newspapers which is pungent but not altogether unpleasant. Now you're an adult, but that room, that feeling and the ghosts of another time have lingered- “Chapter X” is that attic.
My grandfather (last surviving grandparent) passed away just two weeks after the birth of my first child. The following weeks and months were filled with a range of emotions that I could not so simply express. That tumultuous year rekindled a mired horror screenplay and inspired a sincere and personal journey.
