C19 Phase 7

There was something very dark about St. Patrick's Day, early morning, at Walmart. It was different than the vibe one gets when shopping for an oncoming hurricane. It's always us against the storm. There's no panic. We know, all too well, what needs to be done. We lend a hand. We truly are all in it together. This was different. People wandered aimlessly, rudely through the store. It was every man for himself. You could feel the stress of folks not knowing what was happening, what the future was about to bring. An armed guard stood at the front of the store. Associates in homemade hazmat suits wandered the checkouts. It was the last day I chose to be in a crowd of people. That darkness was foreshadowing what was to come. It's been like watching a slow motion train wreck. All the while, what has stood out to me about all of this, the things I learned along the way, what has been so easy to predict, even a bit of gallows humor...that's what's in this film. Will this story, this experiment of ours on planet earth be something other civilizations study in the distant future. Will it be like the apocalyptic TV shows I love where it's survival of the fittest and all of that. I don't know. One thing's for certain though, things will never be the same way again.
