In this short film, we weaponise Bubbles from the bubble Tea as our way of reacting to a homophobic social myth in the East Asian cultural context, the myth states that drinking bubble tea is causing more children to be born gay.

Xinyao Yu (b. 1996), also known as xiaoyu1002, is a Chinese artist who graduated from the Royal College of Art. Their works have been selected for East London Art Prize, Chaiya Art Awards 2023, Batsford Prize 2022 and Moving Image Artist.
Xinyu XuXX (she/it)(b.1998) is a Chinese-born, London-based image artist currently studying at Goldsmiths, MFA Fine Art.
Xiaoyu1002 creates whimsical and tender bubbles to resist daily overwhelming absurdity around gender, identity, alienation, and contemporary culture, whilst countering through parody.
Xinyu XuXX’s practice focuses on feminist eroticism and cares about the erotic capacity to form connections - transmit energy and empathy across time/territory, creating a moment of intimacy. Her work is interested in how image as a non-human body creates visionary erotic experiences, as a method for activism, inhabiting space for those bodies behind it.
