Battle Scars

They're only words but they can kill
My beating heart it won't be still

They are falling one by one
Once was hope but now is none

20 feet above the ground
Once we were lost we would never be found
They brought you up they tore you down
Don’t ever stop just listen to the sound

Hold your head up
Don’t fall apart
It’s just the start
Remember we are what we are
We are what we are
We are what we are

We’re 20 feet above the ground
Once we were lost we would never be found
They brought you up they tore you down
Don’t ever stop
Don’t ever back down

They tried so hard to take me down
I’ve found my voice
It will never be drowned
They tried so hard to shut me out
These battle scars they won’t silence these vows

Artist Biography

Jason Qiu is a singer-songwriter from Vancouver, British Columbia. Classically trained in piano since age four, Jason began writing his own songs at age 17.

In 2006, Jason founded pop group Locus with bandmate, former model, and singer-songwriter Kaila So. Over the next five years, he would write or co-write, record, perform, arrange, and produce all of the songs that appear on Locus' five independently-released records. Between 2007 and 2010, the band made dozens of live appearances at well-known Lower Mainland events and venues, including Vancouver Pride and Anime Evolution.

In 2011, Jason issued his first album as a solo artist, From Behind the Mirror. Deeply personal and introspective, Mirror is a collection of songs that chronicle Jason’s ongoing journey of self-discovery and re-discovery, documenting and dissecting many of his life-changing experiences. Jason went on to release his sophomore album, Fault Line, in 2012. His debut Mandarin-language album will be released in 2019.

Jason has also collaborated with several musicians from Japan as well as the US, most notably co-writing the International Music and Entertainment Association nominated single Fatal Attraction with American singer-songwriter-choreographer Aamirha Fox.
