Writer Statement

Baby Fever takes place in 1972 - a year before Roe V. Wade - and follows queen bee, Donna Hartman as she is pressured by her boyfriend and friends to keep the monstrous inhuman creature that is growing inside her. We write progressive, provocative, and political films, and we believe that our voice needs to be heard through the horror medium. Revisiting the topic of reproductive rights and bodily autonomy is extremely important under our current socio-political climate, and we feel that horror has always been the best genre for incorporating strong political overtones in a more digestible way. While the film may take place 50 years ago, it still speaks to the current generation’s struggle for safe and accessible abortions.
