Experiencing Interruptions?

A Prayer

Jakop, spending time in his father's old fisherman's shed, finds himself in a dilemma when a local villager brings a mute woman to him. The woman is absolutely certain that she has been brought to the Gulf of Finland. However, it is Lake Peipsi. Jakop cannot explain to the woman that it is not the sea and that on the other side of the water is the same Soviet Union, not Finland. However, her desire to cross the bay is so great that she refuses to believe it. Jakop has to decide - whether to take the young woman across the lake or not?

Director Biography - Elis Rumma

Elis Rumma's short film is about escaping from the present and the past. Movie "A Prayer" is about love and its persistence in undefinable time and space.
I have an interior architecture background and find space and light to be great mediators of emotional states. I wanted to tell an atmospheric story and make it feel like a sublime painting.

Director Statement

I have learned how it’s possible to influence people using simple filmmaking tools, but how difficult it is to use these simple methods effectively and efficiently at all times, i.e. Handicraft skills are important and there is always going to be a learning curve - but it is exciting at the same time.

With the film "Palve", I felt how good it is to work with a team that is on the same page and what a joy it can give to each person who contributed to the film.
