Before Breakfast

The distance and the consequent conflict between two people. Man and woman. Husband and wife. No dialogue between them. Only one-sided strife as poignant as silence.

The short film "Antes do Café" is an adaptation of the monologue written by renowned playwright Eugene O'Neill. The production was filmed in an ordinary house, in which the kitchen and living room were used as real sets, without the addition of scenography. The light used was the same as we find in our daily lives, seeking to bring an authentic atmosphere to the work. The footage was shot with a cell phone camera in hand, adding an intimate style to the narrative. Production took place at the end of 2020, amid a context marked by loneliness and the pandemic, which gives the short film a sensitive and current approach.
