And in the Warm Light of Forever
A woman learns that her estranged childhood friend has died unexpectedly. Stricken with grief and the guilt she feels knowing they'd wasted years of their lives separated by anger and the hurtful words of a disagreement from years past, she decides to attend his funeral, even though she knows it's too late to make amends. Or is it? At the funeral, she meets his eleven-year-old daughter for the first time, and the two of them share an uncanny connection and an equally strange occurrence that will cement their bond and change both of their lives forever.

Long before I understood it, I thought it ironic that, as people, we're so capricious and fearful of death; so ostentatiously ritualistic in our expressions while all along, subconsciously knowing that every funeral we've ever attended is really our own. Yet that curious reality is what secretly drives us to attend. I know it's a strange topic for a film, but more than the others I've done, this little 16-minute Short Film is the truest expression of meaningful artistic vision as I see it. The cast, led by newcomer, Cynthia Bizukiewicz did an outstanding job bringing the characters in this artistically abstract story to life and is superbly shot by the talented Souleymane Doumbouya. Creating projects like Warm Light is why I wanted to make films in the first place. I am very proud of this little work of art.
