A letter for Raoul Ruiz

Benjamín records a film for Raúl Ruiz, to whom he tells his concerns and his wishes to become a worthy filmmaker of the deceased recipient. While Benjamín narrates his visual letter, shots from his trip to the South of Chile with his family are shown, from a intime and nostalgic point of view.

Director Statement

A letter for Raúl was filmed without any previous preparation. I wanted to show my own fears and desires to become a great filmmaker. The idea was to show this short film to deceased Chilean film director Raúl Ruiz, who is one of my main influences. I was inspired by Cofralandes and The Solitudes because of their authentic vision of Chile. But I put a little of my heart and made something more personal and familiar to me. I think the heart is the main tool of every human being to remind us what is important.
