Director Statement

This is a suspenseful story of overcoming adversity. Not your traditional spy film, ASI follows Leo, a character with severe hearing difficulties. He is forced to deal with his weaknesses, and stay loyal to his family, friends and values. The honest hero has flaws. This Naturalistic short portrays the dark reality of capture and imprisonment. Starring some of the channel Islands most talented actors and pioneering filmmakers. This is a thrilling tale that ventures the audience out of their known space to the mysterious happenings in a real British military base in Cyprus. It leaves you guessing and thinking.
This is our first venture, as a team, into the world of fictional storytelling. We wanted to pack our short with an exciting character arc, rooted in unspoken geopolitical affairs (not the fictional assumptions of western film). Film is an opportunity to open our eyes to the world, but it shouldn't be presented as more fancy than the actual world, we wanted to keep the film grounded in a reality. This thriller places the character at the heart of the story, not the action or the mission.
