Experiencing Interruptions?

The Public House

This is a short immersive documentary that steps inside The Ivy House in Nunhead, London's first community-owned pub.
In 2012, the pub was suddenly shut down and advised for sale, with the aim to develop it into residential properties. The local community banded together and eventually bought the pub, which now has 371 share-holders. This film captures the sights, sounds, and conversations of a lazy Sunday in this not-so-typical London pub.

Director Biography - Matthew Harmer

Whether it has been for a commercial brand or a charity, I have spent the last 7 years making films about environmental and social issues, and I will always strive to make honest films that have a positive impact on the world. From the Scottish Highlands to Ivorian Jungles to Maldivian Tuna boats, I’ve been lucky enough to shoot films all over the globe. I am just as happy writing and directing a film as I am operating a camera, or simply taking photos, but I also enjoying writing for animations. My work has been recognised in various international awards. I have a background in marine biology and broadcast television.
