I Am From This Place

Adham Shbeta and Diana Kassem Nassar lived their whole life in the Arab town of Tira, Central Israel.
They took on a mission to develop a richer cultural life in their neglected town that needs some care immensely.
There are about 1,600,000 Arab citizens living inside Israel, they hold Israeli ID cards and passports.
The Arab towns have been suffering from severe neglect and the absence of cultural life for many many decades.
This void has had devastating ramifications for the community.

In this movie Adham and Diana are reflecting over their experience as Israeli-Palestinians, talking about their aspirations, their dreams and the effort they take to bring some hope to their desperate town.

Director Statement

I have been interviewing many people I met on my many journeys and different countries I lived in.
As an Israeli who left Israel in 2000, came back for a few years and left again, I have strong bonds to the many different communities living there. In recent years I formed stronger connections with the indigenous people of Israel (The Palestinian and Bedouin People) and wanted to dedicate some of my time to tell their stories.
The new movie I am currently working on, is dealing with the environment and our emotional internal relations with it.
