Hayi Gaitano Este: or [What Does God Smell Like]

Before coming back to Guam for a visit, James begins to wonder more about life after having a talk with God in his dreams. He discusses with a friend to get his take, then returns home only to see his brother distraught by recent events of the island. He spends his time home enjoying conversation with more friends by getting their ideas on the state of the island, and on life in general. Before leaving, he hopes to help his brother find a better way to deal with the controversies that the island faces today, and to remember what God smelled like in his dream.

Director Biography - Steven LeFever, Neil Tinkham

Steven LeFever was born and raised on Guam. After graduating high-school and attending the University of Guam for a year, he moved to Southern California to continue his college education. Shortly after graduating from Cal State Long Beach in 2010, he self-published a novel “Beautiful Escapade” on lulu.com. He later moved to Japan, teaching English and getting involved with independent filmmaking, both in Japan and when he takes the short trip back to Guam. Though he recently began focusing on mostly filmmaking, he has also been chipping away on his second novel “Mariana Sky” for the past 4 years, which will soon be made available for Amazon Kindle. This is his first written/directed short film. He attributes a lot of his directing (and acting) skills to his communications degree. He feels it is key to share his vision to everyone so that the entire cast & crew is on the same page, and to keep the morale on set in good spirits so there is room to make movie magic.
