The film, which grew out of my fascination with film noir, was shot in 16mm reversible black-and-white in the setting of the Temple of the Sybil in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in Paris, and is extensively mentioned in 'Le Rêve aux Loups-garous, my first novel, as if to illustrate Orson Welles' thought ("Cinema is a ribbon of dreams") of the dreamlike process deciphered there. A film referenced in "Jazz on the Screen, a Jazz and Blues Filmography" by David Meeker ( Library of Congress, Washington DC 2009 ). Only one take was taken of the sequence shot that is the main framework of the film, whose low-angle point-of-view illustrates the fact that the character in question is far from being in control of his destiny. I hired the lead actor, the excellent Stephen James Back, whose screen presence time and speaking time are inversely proportional, after seeing him perform as a mime on the esplanade of the Centre Beaubourg.

Between recreation, entertainment, stupefaction, exploitation of man by man, of the planet by man, of man by war on the one hand, and also media of anticipation in the first sense (knowledge is acting), divination, spiritism, a true act of faith, a solid proof of love, an instrument of philosophical reflection, an introspective arsenal or a factor of real progress through the transmission of knowledge and the elevation of the level of consciousness that it allows, the possibilities of cinema are more than immense, in reality infinite as it is also the case for any form of art, but from Andreï Tarkovski to Leni Riefenstahl via Cocteau, Besson and Dupontel, comes a time when it is necessary to (really) choose.

Le film, issu de ma fascination pour le film noir, et son tournage en 16mm inversible noir-et-blanc intégralement réalisé dans le décor du Temple de la Sybille au Parc des Buttes-Chaumont de Paris, sont amplement mentionnés dans 'Le Rêve aux Loups', mon premier roman, et participent comme pour illustrer la pensée d'Orson Welles ( « Le Cinéma est un ruban de rêves » ) du processus onirique qui y est décrypté. Un film référencé in « Jazz on the Screen, a Jazz and Blues Filmography » by David Meeker ( Library of Congress, Washington DC 2009 ). Il n'a été tourné qu'une seule et unique prise du plan-séquence qui est l'armature principale du film, dont le point-de-vue en contre-plongée illustre le fait que le personnage en question est loin d'être maître de son destin. J'ai engagé l'acteur principal, l'excellent Stephen James Back, dont temps de présence à l'image et temps de parole sont inversement proportionnels, après l'avoir vu dans ses prestations de mime sur l'esplanade du Centre Beaubourg.

Entre récréation, divertissement, abrutissement, exploitation de l'homme par l'homme, de la planète par l'homme, de l'homme par la guerre d'une part, et par ailleurs média d'anticipation au sens premier (savoir est agir), support de divination, de spiritisme, véritable acte de foi, solide preuve d'amour, instrument de réflexion philosophique, arsenal introspectif ou encore facteur de réel progrès par la transmission du savoir et l'élévation du niveau de conscience qu'il permet, les possibilités du cinéma sont plus qu'immenses, en réalité infinies comme c'est d'ailleurs le cas pour toute forme d'art, mais d'Andreï Tarkovski à Leni Riefenstahl en passant par Cocteau, Besson et Dupontel, vient un moment où il faut (vraiment) choisir.
