Benedikte Esperi is a performance artist, choreographer, film maker, composer, producer, curator and lecturer. She is greatly appreciated for her work both in Sweden and internationally. Benedikte has many years of experience and is highly acclaimed within her field.
In her practice her intention is to explore and expose current ideals through unique and challenging performances that often challenge the spectators and the expected norms of staged art. Benedikte claims her body as both the object and the subject in her art and are often using it as reference in her performances. Her art is represented within the genres contemporary art, choreography, performance and videos.
Benedikte has an MFA in Contemporary Performative Arts and is Artistic director of the company Dansverk since 2009. Her artistic research and lectures are published at the University of Gothenburg in Gothenburg Sweden.
”I use my body to expose and reveal structural violence and oppression through gestures of identity, power-relations and norms. Time, space and body – those are my key words in my practice and method”
