The abyss
"The Abyss" is a short animated movie which was made by me to help and motivate the students of my animation class who I 've been teaching during that time. This film was created from the first sketch to the last piece of sound within 4 months.
The story is about friendship. A boy named Leo lives with his talking stuffed teddy in a made up world. But the reality Leo assumes to be true turns out to be only a dream as in fact he is in a coma. When he finally wakes up after many years he finds himself laying in a hospital bed - his stuffed teddy is still by his side.
The idea was to play with the spectator's emotions. It was deliberately chohsen to work only with 2 acts in the short film - the introduction and the problem. Whether that problem is solved or not fully depends on the interpretation of the audience. (It was important to me to tell a different kind of story.) The film won an award for "Best Sound Design" and "Best Animation Short".
