Director Biography - E.K. Scarfone

Writer / Director / Producer, E.K. Scarfone was raised in California. She completed the certificate program in Screenwriting at UCLA Extension in 2001, but had to forsake the dream in order to earn a living. After many years as a Digital Strategist, she returned to the dream, currently halfway through an MFA program in Filmmaking and Producing. She started pursuing film race projects outside of school. After earning a Top 15 Finalist laurel on the 72-Hour Horror Film Race, her team’s film “Gratuity” won “Best Student Film.” A few months later, she directed the award-winning mockumentary, “Nawthwest Bounty Hunters.’ for the 48-Hour Film Project, Seattle (2017).

She is currently in preproduction on three short films, including a Sci-Fi/Horror “creature” film (short). Upcoming projects include a Sci-Fi/Horror feature film and a Sci-Fi TV series.

Director Statement

This film was originally created for the 48-Hour Film Project, Seattle 2017. The challenge was to create a 3 - 7 minute short in 48 hours. Our random genre assignments were "mockumentary + action adventure." Requirements to include in the piece were: 1) Prop = hair brush 2) this line of dialogue: "You should get that looked at." 3) This character: A tour guide named "Anders Sandstrom." We had a lot of fun making this film even though we only had 48 hours to write, shoot, edit, and submit it.
