I went by the pen name J. Walter Cohen for about 15 years, but my daughter, Meah Weidner, inspired me to write "A Story For Winter," and it didn't seem right to use a different name than hers, so I reverted back to my legal name.
My daughter, Meah, was murdered in 2009 just 3 months after I wrote "A Story For Winter" to honor children like her who have special needs. The prosecutor who tried her murderer was Trey Gowdy, it was the last trial he prosecuted before going to serve as a US Congressman.
I am a video production and French teacher at Canal Winchester High School in Ohio.
"A Story For Winter" was shot on the iPhone 12 with students from my high school, for a total budget of $3000.
