The Festival
The Valle de Guadalupe Film Festival is in the heart of the wine country in Baja California, Mexico, home of the Kumeyaay people, and is an IMDb qualifier festival.
The festival is instrumental in curating films written and directed by up-and-coming filmmakers working in fiction and reality based projects with a strong focus in exploring and sharing people’s individual stories, point of views, social backgrounds and milieu, welcoming productions worldwide.
Summer Solstice 2024
On the Summer Solstice of June 20th to 22nd, 2024, films of all genres, lengths and formats are curated at the Valle de Guadalupe Film Festival. Across the spectrum from feature films to documentary forms and artistic expressions, viewers are invited to encounter singular ways of life, experiencing the perspectives of others.
Selection & Deadline
The deadline for submissions is on Friday, June 14th, 2024. The selection centers on the filmmakers’ cinematic genuine and singular expressions.
We are looking for character driven emotional experiences and movies that are the authentic expression of the individuals coming from all walks of life. We are not interested in movies that copy the soulless industry’s narratives. We also welcome people with disability to share their perspectives.
For the film projects selected we will feature their trailers on our platform for viewers to watch. The films selected will be screened at Casa Kurrak, in the heart of the Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico.
THE KURRAK AWARDS
The Valle de Guadalupe Film Festival is dedicated in showcasing authentic and singular voices in cinema that encourage exploration and reflection. The Kurrak Award is the mark of the resilience and integrity it took for an individual and a collective to produce their creation. In Kumeyaay language “kurrak” signifies the brave, the wise warrior, the elder. Our festival recognizes the following categories:
