I am an artist, performer, maker and facilitator who works with the body and movement to explore possibilities, transformation, choice, multiplicity. I am passionate about reclaiming queer and trans bodies as full of potential and possibilities for choice, celebrating their imaginative and revolutionary superpowers. I search for connection through tapping into sensory and physical experiencing, foregrounding the body and movement as anchors for accessing these radical powers. My research is centred around ideas of queer utopias, exploring the potential that queerness offers in imagining new possibilities, for approaching the body and for creating spaces that challenge, reconsider and redesign societal structures and systems.
I work across the UK and Italy - and wherever else my work may take me! As a maker, my work has been supported by funders and organisations such as Projekt Europa, Arts Council England, The Brewhouse, Pavillion Dance South West, Transparent Presence, Jupiter Gallery, Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange amongst others, through research opportunities and ad hoc commissions for making and facilitating.
As a performer, I have worked in projects spanning across stage work, site-specific work, multidisciplinary projects, cabaret spaces and outdoors - including works performed to a variety of age groups, from young people and families, to mature audiences. I am currently working on new research projects with Lïla Dance and with Tangled Feet as a dancer and performer. Other artists and companies I am working and have worked with include Lïla Dance, Tangled Feet, Pianka Pärna, Prodigal UPG, Kyra Norman, Anders Duckworth, Kayla McClennan, Moth Sanctuary Productions, Stella Uppal Subbiah, Francis Angol, Liz Aggiss, Didy Veldman, José Agudo, Anthony Missen, Florence Peake, Pablo Bronstein, Jean Johnson-Jones.
I am also my other self Clit Van Dyke, who unapologetically indulges in queer power and dykey pleasures, travelling across cabaret and queer spaces.
