Experiencing Interruptions?

Zabeta

“Zabeta” follows our 90 year old grandmother on a day in her life. Her everyday activities, watching tv, talking on the phone, visiting her neighbourhood’s elderly center become the backdrop, as she narrates the story of how she had to immigrate to Canada, flee back to Greece and get divorced and remarried in the 60’s.

The film plays on the line of reality and staged reality and questions notions of patriarchy, sexism and religion.

“Zabeta” gives us a glimpse into an old woman’s adventurous past and current lonely life, through her humourous and empowering point of view.
