SEMIFINALIST
Juampa is a Cuban filmmaker and the president of FILA20, a Cuban-American film collective based in New York City.
FILA20's films have been screened at hundreds of festivals, including Borscht, Rhode Island, Glasgow, Miami, New Orleans, Rooftop Films, Sundance, Warsaw, etc., and on platforms like Amazon Video, Booooooom.TV, Comcast Xfinity, Omeleto, Short of the Week, and ShortsTV.
Juampa's filmography as a director includes YUNAISY, selected by 50+ international festivals; ÁNGELA, an official selection at Glasgow, New Orleans, HBO New York Latino FF, etc.; and TWILIGHT, winner of the New Jersey, Martinique, and Muestra Joven festivals. He has also directed projects for Galleria Continua, Louis Vuitton, the Museum of Modern Art, the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), and The Bronx Museum of the Arts.
Juampa’s passion is science and nature. He dreams of incorporating it into films that, hopefully, are not boring. At least not too boring.
