Yifei He is a Chinese writer-director whose work explores identity, displacement, and the fragile territories of intimacy. Raised in a Hui Muslim family in China and educated in the United States, she moves between cultures, languages, and emotional codes—often inhabiting the in-between spaces where belonging feels both close and out of reach. Her films focus on quiet ruptures and moments where identity slips, where time folds, and when language starts to fray. After getting her undergrad degree at Penn State, she earned her MFA in filmmaking at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. She has directed and produced several short films that have screened in festivals around the world, including Sundance, Tribeca, Palm Springs and Raindance. She is currently based in Beijing and developing her first feature.
