YAZIDIS IN ARMENIA
Between the 19th and 20th centuries the Ottoman Turks persecuted the Kurdish Yazidis, considered devil worshipers. Some Yazidis fled eastward to Armenia where they still live trying to maintain their religion and traditions. Actually the Yazidis worship the sun and believe in the peacock angel. Daily life is marked by natural rhythms around farming activities. They survived after seventy years of soviet communism and now they deal with poverty, low education and the problems of youth emigration to Europe. However, their culture, religion and language still remains strong. This is revealed in this film. It also shows the construction of the second largest Yazidi temple in the world in their new homeland, Armenia.
