Haolun Xu is a Chinese-American film director, screenwriter, and poet. His short film, Winter Prayer, finished post-production in September 2021. He was raised in central New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in English and Creative Writing.
Haolun's creative writing, which ranges from poetry to fiction has appeared in over forty national literary magazines, such as Electric Literature, Narrative Magazine, Gulf Coast, jubilat, Witness, and more. He was awarded a 2021 Brooklyn Poets Fellowship and a 2021 Centrum Residency in poetry. Haolun’s work has been nominated multiple times for the Pushcart Prize, the Janet B. McCabe Prize, the Marica and Jan Vilcek Poetry Prize, and more.
Haolun's poetry chapbook, Ultimate Sun Cell, is published with New Delta Review, judged and selected by the poet Brandon Shimoda.
