Director Biography - Xiaolu Wang

Xiaolu is a filmmaker and a storyteller. She is also a Chinese transplant who grew up in a Muslim autonomous region in the northwest of China. She is currently focusing on reclaiming her own stories and creating spaces for voices and stories that need to be told in our time. She believes that the basic conflict in our world, is the battle of stories. It is essential to craft thoughtful and emotional stories to build towards liberation. She gives her energy mainly to projects that center collaboration and community building through a social justice lens. She has diverse experiences in documenting social actions, marches, personal stories, arts & culture, and music videos.
