The We Make Movies International Festival celebrates the Do-It-Yourself filmmaking aesthetic. After a completely virtual festival in 2020, and a hybrid version in 2021, we look forward to getting back to way more in-person events while still keeping a digital component with WMMIntl 2022!

Held in Hollywood every year, WMMIntl serves to highlight DIY filmmakers across the spectrum of the industry in every genre. From horror to drama, comedy to documentary, experimental and underground to video art, we salute filmmakers who embrace the true indie spirit by making quality art on their own terms.

Hosted by We Make Movies (, a film community, educational platform, and full service production company based on the idea of "make the movie that YOU want to see." This week-long festival provides networking and social events, industry panels, a showcase of shorts, features, and series from around the world, live multi-media performances, and an awards ceremony. By bringing filmmakers of all ilks together, we strive to bolster artists and revitalize the industry that we want to be a part of!

  • Had a great experience! Thought they handled covid very well with a hybrid festival, had a great time and felt very safe at the in-person screening - programming had a wide range of films, really fun to be in person (safely!) again - and nice to have the bar next door for a little bit of networking :) Will definitely submit my next film here.

We loved this festival experience! It was our first one back in a live theatre, and the fest administrators handled it so well with proof of vaccine/or negative Covid-19 test required. The Broadwater Theatre is a really nice space in Hollywood, with a cute bar (the Broadwater Plunge) next door, and the other shorts which aired with ours were high-quality. We'd definitely recommend submitting!

We had a lot of fun premiering our feature at We Make Movies. Their programmers and volunteers were friendly and welcoming. We met lots of other great filmmakers.
