Max is a director with a love of the surreality of everyday life. Hoping to take audiences on hyper real and stylized journeys.
His largest short THYME, was shot on 16mm and won Best Student Short at the West Virginia FILMMakers Festival. The short also screened across the globe at various other festivals. Earlier shorts of his have also played at many film festivals including the London Short Film Festival. His most recent and self-funded/produced short WOODS has also been popular online featuring on 1.4 and being the Daily Pick on Film Shortage.
Alongside directing, Max has spent the past 5 years working in the art department for both features, shorts and commercials. Most recently as the Standby Art Director on the forthcoming British feature Dead In A Week.
I wanted to take our protagonist from the confident position of having a long-term partner and potential new lover, to a point where like many early Coen-esk characters; he’s left alone, bewildered and having to rethink everything.
The concept was initially inspired by watching Shakespeare’s play Cymbeline and being reminded of his fantastic use of bets in a variety of his plays.
