The Getaway
The porter of the drug addiction treatment centre is facing a difficult evening. One of the patients locks him in the building and the other one runs away through the window at the same time. He remains trapped indoors with medical assistants and discovers that he is not the only one who needs to be free for a moment at least.

Idea to make this film occured to me at the time I was a student of medical faculty and attended practical lessons at psychiatrics department. During two semesters I have visited many patients and listened very closely to their often sad and always tough and interesting life stories. I remembered my childhood friends whom I have not seen for several years until I had accidental videocall with one of them earlier that year via his girlfriend. I learned many of them became drug addicts including him and had to undergo the treatment with very variable outcome. This film is a message of hope for them and everyone who finds him/herself in similiar situation, that it still is in their power to free themselves out of addiction and start their lives anew. Main reference are the steps in front of Philadelhia museum famously used in the first Rocky movie. Steps represent the main obstacle but also the only way to overcome oneself both symbolically and literally. During post-production period we found out that all of the sound we recorded on set had to be replaced because it lacked technical quality. We ended up with ADR for the whole movie, which was very hard but also creative and enjoyable process. It offered us chance to deeply explore the characters. I hope all of our dedicated work translates to audiences and starts a flame within themselves.
