we don't make movies to make money, we make money to make movies
Growing up into a family where movies are considered as a waste of time. My parents preferred us to go for physical activities rather than sitting at sofa and watching TV. so it was not easy for me to grow up as a movie enthusiast, but I always try to visualize the normal life scenes in the back of my mind specially while sleeping I kept imagining normal life things like a movie scene.
I have been always curious to know what goes into making a movie. How a scene is shot, how editing works to bring those magical moments on screen, the car chase sequences that keep you at the edge of your seat, how do they do it? And it all started when I started watching movies more and more when I was handed over my first PC. I started spending more and more of my time in watching them and wondering, “How do they do it?” The more I watch those movies, the more I found myself inclined toward this magical field. So the time comes when I am done with my college study .At that time I had to decide whether I should join army as a commissioned officer because of my family background or I choose the field of my passion. I chose to study bachelors in film and TV Production. I have enjoyed this B.A (HONS) FILM AND TV course so much because I believe film gives everyone the ability to become imaginative, which is a valuable skill in life; it can also be very influential to a lot of people and can change people’s opinions. I was immediately fascinated by the fun, hardworking and enjoyment of filming and editing films.
The real struggle starts after my graduation, because I had to find a job to continue my passion. I need money to pursue that because I do not have any other option now at the time I graduated Pakistan film industry was reviving but our media industry was spreading day by day. I joined our national T.V channel (PTV) as an internee and learned a lot about media production, although their equipments are quite outdated. Along with that i started working as a freelance videographer and did some commercial work like social media campaigns, music videos and short movies as well. Moreover my learning about the practical life experience started when I started doing street photography and that gave me the real experience of routine life characters and visuals that i just imagined in my mind before. And at this time i came to know about the deep details about emotions and stories of characters. So i started writing short stories about random characters. And all this developed my desire to be a storyteller more certain. I am very different from whom I was and am now confident about my identity and I feel certain I want to be a storyteller/ filmmaker.
