Up in the Woods

Heralding from the thriving metropolis of Dekalb, Illinois, David Hicks now resides in Chicago and is studying film at DePaul University. David has dabbled in many different roles in the world of video, doing everything from creating content for non-profits and corporations to directing and editing short films, he is now focused on being a professional video editor who also directs many of his own projects. David is a filmmaker who believes that film is not only meant only to be entertaining but is a medium that can be used to challenge people and bring them into worlds they may have never been able to experience or understand. Film at its core is a form of artistic expression that can be used to connect and relate to people. Film is not passive in nature. It asks something of those who engage it. Film creates a place where artist and audience meet, thoughtful reflection is stimulated and easy answers are avoided. This is what David strives to produce in his work.
