The Flying Man
Greta and Achille, two similar souls, a great endless love. Achille follows the life, the passion. Greta follows Achille. They step through the chapters of their life from 80s to now by holding their hands, having deep breathes of their adolescence, still being “one for each other”; until they reach their adulthood, and then they decide to follow their own roads. Greta will make her dream of being wife and mother come true; Achille will see his dream of traveling and living a bohemian life as a reality, in an eternal conflict between love and passion. It’s the story of two persons and their very strong relationship.

Director, actor, screenwriter and CEO of the Achille Togliani Academy, founded in the early 90’s. He starred in successful TV series including Marcinelle and A Wedding, and many films as Naja, Boris and Casanova directed from Lasse Hallstrom. His directing credits include theatre, cinema, TV and experimental video productions for the Web. For fifteen odd year or more Togliani works with UNICEF, RAI, RCS Mediagroup and various web televisions. He’s also the author and the concept designer of the first ethnical RAI series Sweet India and live studio tv programs (//DigiTalk). His latest work The Flying Man was shown during the 72nd Venice Film Festival. He's also a retrogamer.
The Flying Man was born from an idea of two people in their thirties about telling love. Or maybe a dimension of it. The lost love. And the unsolved one. “I grew up with a very specific idea about what flirting, following, desiring could mean…in the 80s, these actions were worthy. And most of The Flying Man is set in the 80s, so far and so close to me, prisoner of nostalgia and of the blasting strength of memories” says Adelmo Togliani, the director of the movie. Love, translated in every way and then reduced, as it happens in the very well-known movie “Good Bye Lenin”, in the house: in the relationship with those people we grew up with and who know us more than any other one in the deepest side of our soul. Greta, who is crazily in love with Achille, can't have a peaceful life. She is still looking for her real identity and what she really wants in her life, facing the choice between suffering a life or living it as her brother does, with all the intolerances and tumults of the chances. Choose for not choosing, for not going too far in relationships, to “survive” without suffering too much or planning because the reality, for a thirteen years old girl, is too much clear: a house, a husband who loves you, a son. The whole story is filled with mystery, giving the impression, without confirming it on the very first scenes, that Greta and Achille are like fiancées, but in the end we will discover two identities who think alike, a primal accord about the meaning of love and its tornado full of feelings.
