My interest as a director lies in exploring the intimate details of personal dramas, uncovering the universal in the particular. This documentary originated from Alberto’s desire to tell his father’s story, but we soon discovered that the true conflicts lay in the encounters: between siblings, with the Poles, and with the memory of his father. This story profoundly affects me, confronting me with my own relationships and what I know—or think I know—about my parents’ history. Visually, the focus is on capturing moments of connection and tension through intimate shots and landscapes imbued with memory, reflecting how the past echoes in the present.
