Private Project

TRIP

Trip begins in the USA in 2008, when the young filmmaker Lilly Creightmore leaves her life in England
and heads out on tour in the U.S with Austin-based band The Black Angels. The film documents this
tour as they support their greatest influence, Roky Erickson of The 13th Floor Elevators, and moves
on to explore the growing resurgence of the neo-psychedelic music scene in the years since.
As the film documents the rise of neo-psychedelia over the past decade, we hear from other
respected musicians the world over who have lived as part of the scene or whom it has inspired. We
speak to those who have built a global community through playing shows and festivals, including Berlin-based Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre), Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3/Spiritualized), The Underground Youth, Hákon Aðalsteinsson (The Third Sound, BJM, Singapore Sling), Lucy Kruger & Andre Leo (Medicine Boy, Lost Boys, Wombed), Alex Maas & Christian Bland (The Black Angels), Tess Parks, and artists from other corners of the world.

Lilly Creightmore is a self-taught English photographer and documentary artist, known for her work with musicians, record labels and music festivals and as a key figure supporting the growing underground music scenes in the UK, Europe, South Africa and the US.
The past decade has been one of moving between these continents, raising her son, completing her first feature-length documentary film TRIP, focusing her lens on more film and documentary work, and, most recently, making music of her own.
