Treasure

A touching, uplifting, and inspirational story of life, loss, and finding your path in life.

Erica and her father are still reeling from the loss of her mother to cancer. All she wants to do is drown the pain in drugs and alcohol.

After a night of binge drinking and drugs, she runs off the road and is taken to the hospital.

She avoids jail time by doing community service at a soup kitchen. She hates it but comes into contact with a whole new world of people.

A new friendship based on a love for geocaching and the realization that the patrons of the soup kitchen are much worse off than she has ever been leads Erica to question her old attitudes towards the meaning of life...and death.

There is something very unique about this film: it features hidden geocaching trackable codes secretly embedded IN THE FILM for geocachers to discover. Only a geocacher will recognize the codes, and it means that geocachers can geocache while watching the film!

Director Biography - Chris Williamson

Chris first picked up a camera in 2006 and immediately shot a feature-length documentary film about two buddhist brothers from Laos building a drag racing team in the United States.

Then for fun he shot another feature-length doc about underground hip-hop with cameo's from Snoop Dogg, Tech N9ne, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Method Man and more.

Treasure is his third feature and first fictional narrative feature. In his spare time he likes to play guitar, travel, and hang out with other local filmmakers.

Director Statement

"Treasure" is about character, change, and the ineffable qualities of the human experience - the meaning of life.

On the surface it may be about a young woman who gets into trouble and is made to do community service at a soup kitchen, but it's really about how humans grow, and how humanity is growing. That's why I use geocaching as a metaphor for "finding oneself." An apt metaphor, when geocaching, participants find containers and objects hidden by other participants who have uploaded the coordinates to the web.

Geocaching could be seen as the physical manifestation of the human race. We are nodes in a network, individuals, yet there is a connection between us all.
