Trauma

"Trauma by Brett Moody, Aidan Petershack, and Harrison Wilson, is a terrific animated short. An unusual concept, with an unexpected ending. Cartoony graphics, but serious content. Well-timed and edited."
--John Canemaker, Animation Historian and Academy Award Winner for Best Animated Short

Matt, an ageless male in a spacesuit, wakens on the floor of a massive, pitch-black cavern. He is lost, and a meter on his suit warns him that he is running out of oxygen.
Something wheezes behind Matt. Matt turns to see Ike, another male in a spacesuit, gasping on the ground. Something has shattered Ike’s helmet, so he is nearly out of oxygen.
After Matt and Ike share a moment, Matt vows to save Ike.
Suddenly, the cavern shakes and a section of its wall splits open.
Using all his might, Matt manages to carry Ike to this opening and push him through it just before Ike suffocates.
But Matt then runs of out of oxygen himself and collapses.
When all seems lost, the cavern’s ceiling splits open and a giant hand reaches through the opening towards Matt’s unconscious body.
After a blinding white light, it is revealed that Matt and Ike are actually twin boys being born.
The doctor who delivered Matt places him in a bassinet beside Ike, who wears an oxygen mask. When Matt sees that Ike is okay, he smiles.

Director Biography - Brett Moody

Hi. My name is Brett Moody and I am a Filmmaking student at New York University. I love to create animated, live-action and documentary films. Recently, I have begun work in Virtual Reality. My favorite films are those that address real, human issues in creative ways like Brazil (1985) or Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind.

Before moving to New York, I lived in Singapore for five years. Prior to that, I lived around the United States. But I'm at home anywhere there are friends, art and stories.
