The Translator

An American man and a Lithuanian woman vacationing in Japan have fall in love through a series of translations. The translator caught between mending the relationship with her sister and a broken childhood decides the puppet strings are out. As the conversation begins to take on a new life of its own in the false body language; the emotional past of the translator stirs up a stiletto of words that drive into the hearts of the lovebirds. Will the lovers uncover the truth? Can love find a way to shine through the modern language barrier? In the vein of the 1947 noir film "Raw Deal" comes the short The Translator: a psychological thriller that will reveal how powerful and twisted our words can be.

Writer Biography - James Steed

I came from Cincinnati/Northern KY to Florida in 2009 on a job hunt and in search of finding myself and bright future. After several phone calls and interviews, I landed a few possibilities, but couldn't give up hope on the future. I enrolled in full time undgrad film school when I got accepted I had no money to pay for it. But I worked hard drawing up loans and started my college career after a few months of hounding family and friends of family as well the financial aid offices (I met some really awesome people up there) and was all set to start as a film major. Really? This is happening? Yeah it was. And it was the best decision I made for myself in my adult life up until that point. I am currently a Public Affairs Officer in the United States Navy, travelling the world. Experiencing cultures not of my own. That's where several of my ideas for film have originated, in obscure and different places in the world. My inspirations come from swimming in the Mariana's to Hong Kong, Phillipines, Sapporo, Japan, to present day Vietnam to name a few.. and it has been anything but boring.
