1. Aims
Transhumant Festival is an engaged cinema event to do the social transformation.
It aims to reach audiences far away from culture, both geographically and by social circumstances to make them participants and show topics that concern society and that are not sufficiently disseminated in movie theatres, media or usual audiovisual distribution channels.
It will showcase national and international cinematographic works and photojournalism reportages that focus on:
- Social, political, environmental, mountain, journalistic or historical research.
- Showing some form of activism in favour of human rights and respect for the environment.
- Valuing positive human relations and diversity of cultures.
- Valuing the equity between women and men.
2. Transhumant Festival dates
Competition sections from September 20th to October 12th, 2024
From September 12th to December 31st will have preview sessions, special sessions out of competition, public presentations, sessions of the catalogue Cinema with Values. This edition will realise sessions for collective special with risk of social exclusion and there will be sessions in little town far away from the cultural reference centres.
3. Organizer
Dinàmic Enginy SLU, producer, exhibitor and distributor of cinema is the organizing entity of the Transhumant Festival with the collaboration with other entities in the several venues.

4. Participants
Producers, directors and distributors of any country who own the rights of the works with which they compete can participate in the festival. They must also be the owners of the images and audios of the film.
5. Conditions of the works
Films, which include disrespectful contents for any person, group, collective or entity will not be accepted. They cannot induce to proselytism, neither to political or religious propaganda.
6. Sections
The official sections in the 2023 edition of the Transhumant Festival are 3:
CINEMA AND AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA
● Films, documentaries or fiction (31 minutes minimum - 120 minutes maximum).
● Short films, documentaries or fiction (less than 30 minutes).
PHOTOGRAPHY
● Photojournalism report (Minimum 5 photographs, maximum 20 photographs).
7. Awards 2024
The jury, made up of filmmakers and film, photography and journalism specialists, will award the following prizes:
Film and Audiovisual Media Awards:
● Best Fiction Feature Film Award
● Best Documentary Feature Film Award
● Best Fiction Short Film Award
● Best Documentary Short Film Award
● Award to the concord. Awarded by the jury of this prize, that will be formed by people of different religious, cultural and ethnic realities.
● Audience Award for open audience polling during the festival.
● Young Award awarded by a jury formed by young people.
Honorary Awards:
● Film, Audiovisual Media or Communication Career Award.
● Photographic Career Award.

● Best Photojournalism Report Film Award

Any modification or new award that isn’t included in these rules and regulations will be announced via the communication channels of the TRANSHUMANT festival (web, press communications, etc.)
The Award consists of one statuette.
The Awards are public recognition of creativity and the social values that are transmitted for the works.
They don’t have any economic endowment because the social consciousness, individual or collective, is priceless. It’s a value itself.
However, the winners will be able to receive awards paid in kind by companies or partners.
Therefore, we are looking for creators who want to submit their works with a message without economic remuneration.
8. Works requirements
CINEMA AND AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA
It can be presented any national or international documentary or fiction film, which include social awareness, environment and mountain values, journalistic or historical research as a theme, or showing some form of activism in favour of human rights, diversity of cultures and/or promoting the equity between women and men.
● Feature film
Maximum film length: 120 minutes.
Minimum film length: 31 minutes
● Short film
Maximum film length: 30 minutes.
PHOTOGRAPHY
It can be presented any national or international photographic reportage (set of digital photographs), whose thematic narrative includes include social awareness, environment and mountain values, journalistic or historical research as a theme, or showing some form of activism in favour of human rights, diversity of cultures and/or promoting the equity between women and men.
● Photojournalism reportage
Maximum number of photographs: 20
Minimum number of photographs: 5
9. Requirements for registration
o Registration fees are:
▪ 10 € (Early bird) for film entries until May 12th, 2024.
▪ 20 € for every film entry from May 13th to June 2nd, 2024.
▪ 40 € for every film entry from June 3rd to June 16th, 2024.
▪ Photographic reports have free fees.
o Movies can be shot in any language; however, they have to be subtitled in Spanish or in Catalan if the audio language isn’t Spanish or Catalan.
o All the subtitles, English version included, have must keep to the standards quality and the translation is not permitted that it has been automatically made. If that happens, they will be rejected.
o The deadline for the audiovisual media and cinema works is June 16th, 2024.
o It foresees an extended deadline by extraordinary causes of until June 30th, 2024.
o Information note: on the perspective of gender and equality in the authorship and prominence of the works. The TRANSHUMANT festival will have an equitable program (direction, music, script and protagonists in the case of audiovisuals, author of the photographs and protagonists in the case of the reports). This aspect is not a requirement in the works to be submitted, however it will be taken into account in the final selection.
o The registration process for the sections: FEATURE FILM and SHORT FILM.

o The registration process for the sections: PHOTOJOURNALISM REPORT. There are two ways
1) Registration can be made through the Filmfreeway platform.
Information note: The reportages that will be applied via this platform will have to fill the website form after the selection step.
2) TRANSHUMANT festival website (www.transhumant.com)
It is necessary to fill the entry web form at official website with the following fields:
▪ Contact data: Author’s first and last name, ID number, telephone, email and residence address.
▪ Reportage title
▪ Main reportage photo.
▪ Set of images with the correct order and title of every image (if the author considers it is necessary).
▪ Place and date of shooting.
▪ Short introduction. (10 lines maximum).
▪ Reportage download link. Only one link.
▪ It’s necessary to send the work to this email account: inscripcions@transhumant.com, via some transfer file service (Wetransfer.com, Google Drive, Dropbox...) with the next information in the subject of the email: Work title, author’s name and the same email that in the registration form.
▪ Photo format: JPG, quality 12, resolution 300 ppp and 1080 pixels of height minimum.
▪ Every photo file’s name must contain the order of the photo in the reportage if the author wants to.
▪ If any data is missed, the entry will not be valid.
▪ Participants can only present 2 works.
▪ Selected works publication: August 18th, 2024.
10. Delivery of selected works
o The PHOTOGRAPHIC REPORTS will not be send any more. The materials presented are enough for the screenings.
o In the case of the AUDIOVISUAL WORKS would be selected. The authors will have to send the work for the screenings before September 2nd, 2024. The technical formats are:
▪ DCP 2K (Flat or SCOPE)
▪ MP4 file, 1080px, H264 compression and AVG Bitrate: 10MBPS at 15MBPS.
o Delivery for audiovisual works:
▪ Delivery via one download service. The download link mustn’t expire. Delivery email address: inscripcions@transhumant.com. The message must include work’s title; author’s name and the same email account that in online platforms form.
▪ PLEASE NOTE: The movies selected must arrive before September 2nd, 2024. Otherwise, the works will not be accepted.
▪ The receipt of movies will be noticed by email.
11. Works quality
The organization reserves the right to select entry works with technical and creative quality criteria.
12. Jury
The Jury will be compounded by audio-visual and photography professionals and other representative people from civil society. Some award could be declared lacking if jury considers so.
13. Works exhibition
Selected works for the official competition will show publicly from September 10th to December 31st, 2024.
Important: The festival has a hybrid nature, from September 20th to October 12th the works will be available to view on the festival's online channel at Filmin.es and Filmin.cat. The channel will be accessible only by subscription and only in the geographical area of Spain.
All contest participants have to pay entrance ticket in the venues that they do not present their works. Only two entrance tickets will be given for every work in the session that the work will be presented.
The organizers encourage all participants to participate in the other sections and parallel activities as spectators, not only in the sessions which will project their own works.
For every selected word, the organization will pay the rights of the exhibition to the producers or authors, which are:
● 140€ for every feature film (either documentary film or fiction film).
● 70 € for every short film, (either documentary film or fiction film).
● 60 € for every photojournalism reportage.
It is important and remarkable to say, that one of the foundational characteristics of Transhumant Festival is that there are no prizes on cash, because the social consciousness and the commitment of the works has not price, in return, all the money deserved to prizes it is delivered to all the authors in the payment of rights of public exhibition to all the official selection works.
The organization reserves right to show the entire winner works in the complete format in the different editions of Transhumant Festival, for the different organiser entities, in any space or location. The organization warrants the authorship of the works.
The authors give up the commercial and operating rights in these promotional sessions or other special sessions that it could be programmed in other editions and in other dates of Transhumant Festival.
In other cases, if any projection that arises, the organiser entities will communicate it to the authors.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Once the selection of the work will be communicated, the candidates and/or the producing/distributors who have the rights of exhibition will send an invoice dated the last quarter of the year 2024 to the email inscripcions@transhumant.com with the corresponding taxes and with its fiscal data to:

The bills of rights of exhibition that receive with back date to December 31st, 2024 will not pay.
14. Transhumant Festival online viewing channel
Also, with the intention of making the selected audiovisual works better known and promoted, the TRANSHUMANT festival will also have a permanent online viewing version through a Filmin channel, www.filmin.es and www.filmin.cat, the paid viewing platform on line. All the works selected for the competition will be projected in the online channel between the dates of the festival of this year.
Candidates may optionally sign a contract for the non-exclusive exhibition of selected works within the Transhumant Festival channel at www.filmin.es and www.filmin.cat for one year from the start of Transhumant Festival 2024. This option will allow candidates to earn income based on the online views of www.filmin.es and www.filmin.cat subscribers who have films within Transhumant Festival channel. Revenue from views will be detailed in this contract.
Apart from this edition. Transhumant Festival will have a permanent selection on the Filmin channel of the best works from previous editions.
15. The inclusion of the selected works in the catalogue Cinema with values of Transhumant Cinema
With the vocation and objective to give more diffusion to the audiovisual works selected, the entity organiser, has created the Catalogue Cinema with Values. Films in this catalogue will be promoted through cultural and social entities (civic public centres, libraries, schools, etc) where will project the films in cineforum sessions in order to foment the debate and the reflection. Each session, that it will be contracted with the films included in the catalogue will have its rights of exhibition paid by Transhumant Cinema.
The authors will always be notified of any screening that arises, both to pay for the public exhibition rights and for possible presentations in the places where they take place.
16. Possibility of distribution in Spanish film market
Transhumant Cinema offers distribution agreements in Spain to all authors interested.
17. Awards and winners announcement
October 12th, 2024, during the closing ceremony. The list of winners will be publish on the website and the others social media channels of Transhumant Festival.
18. Responsibility
All participants that present their works to Transhumant Festival take responsibility about possible complaints about rights of others that involve their works.
19. Right to change the Rules and regulations
The organization reserves the right to change the rules and regulations if the circumstances oblige to do so.
20. Rules and regulations acceptance
To submit a work to a competition implies the acceptance of these rules and regulations.
