Director Statement

At the age of 28, my friend was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Two years later, she lost her eye sight after a surgery and imprisoned in the darkness.

After learned her phone's voiceover fuction (an accessibility feature that makes the cellphone easier to operate for the blind and sight impaired), she gradually returned to the social media. Through the cell phone, she could stay in her familiar past and pretend that nothing has happened, but put down the cell phone, she becomes a blind person that is totally strange to herself.

However, even struggling with cancer and darkness, her longing for romance has not altered one bit. She becomes active in the dating apps and secretly explores the possibility of love and sex in the cyber world. In the hospital, the conversations between us are always about love and sex, so we can almost forget the presence of death and darkness. In those talks, we blushed, laughed, debated, argued and reshaped our understanding of love.

On the exact day one year after she lost her eye slight, she asked me to wish her happy birthday on her brand new life and we agreed that we were going to make a film together about LOVE.
