Torino Film Festival is an international film festival held in Turin, Italy every November. it is the second largest film festival in Italy. It was founded in 1982 by film critic and academic Gianni Rondolino as Festival Internazionale Cinema Giovani or the Festival of Young Cinema. Since its origins, forty-two years ago, the festival has been known internationally as one of the most established events devoted to new cinema. Thanks to its commitment to the support of independent filmmaking and personal vision, and for its numerous and in depth retrospectives, Torino has become a point of reference for both emerging and established filmmakers all over the world.
Beside Gianni Rondolino, the festival's directors have been: Ansano Giannarelli, Alberto Barbera, Stefano della Casa, Giulia d'Agnolo Vallan, Roberto Turigliatto, Nanni Moretti, Gianni Amelio, Paolo Virzì, Emanuela Martini and Stefano Francia di Celle.

The Torino Film Festival is currently directed by Giulio Base.

PREMISE
The rules and regulations for participating are subject to the “Regulations for International Film Festivals” laid down by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (F.I.A.P.F.), which recognizes the Torino Film Festival as a Competitive Festival.

1. ORGANIZERS
The Torino Film Festival is organized by the National Cinema Museum. Its principal subsidies are provided by the Ministry of Culture, the Piedmont Region, the City of Torino, the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation and the CRT Foundation. Additional financing is provided by associations and private sponsors.

2. OBJECTIVES
The Torino Film Festival’s purpose is to constitute a meeting point for contemporary international cinema and to provide the opportunity for a discussion on all its perspectives and artistic trends. The Festival pays particular attention to emerging cinemas and young filmmakers. In its competitive sections, it favours films by new directors whose works are characterized by strong formal and stylistic innovation.

3. DATES
The 42nd Torino Film Festival will be held from Friday, November 22nd to Saturday, November 30th, 2024, for a total of nine days.

4. FESTIVAL SECTIONS
The Festival is divided into three competitive sections:
• International Feature Films Competition
• International Documentaries Competition
• International Short Films Competition

and the following non-competitive sections:
• Out-of-competition: dedicated to the most interesting films of the current year
• Zibaldone: totally free and heterogeneous section, with titles of all kinds, without any restrictions on duration, format, date or preview.
• Special Screenings (Retrospective)

5. INTERNATIONAL FEATURES COMPETITION
a) The selection of the films, which is final and binding, is conducted by the Festival Organizers.
b) Entry to this section is open to feature-length films and documentaries which were completed after September 1st, 2023. The date of the film’s first public screening is determinant.
The Festival will accept exclusively films with World or International Premiere status (except for exceptions decided by Festival Organizers).
c) The Festival will nominate a Jury composed by at least five people. The Jury will award the following prizes:
• Best Film Award
• Special Jury Award
• Best Screenplay Award
• Best Actress Award
• Best Actor Award

6. INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARIES COMPETITION
a) The selection of the films, which is final and binding, is conducted by the Festival Organizers.
b) Entry to these sections is open to Italian and International documentaries which were completed after September 1st, 2023. The documentaries need to have a minimum length of 52 minutes. The Festival excludes from participation works that have already been screened in any way in Italy.
c) The Festival will nominate a Jury composed by at least three people. The Jury will award the following prizes:
• Best Film Award
• Special Jury Award

7. INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILMS COMPETITION
a) The selection of the films, which is final and binding, is conducted by the Festival Organizers.
b) Entry to this section is open to Italian and International short films which were completed after September 1st, 2023. These works may last no longer than 30 minutes (credits included). There are no limitations regarding style or genre.
The Festival will accept exclusively films with International or European Premiere status. No more than two films by the same author may be submitted.
c) The Festival will nominate a Jury composed by at least three people. The Jury will award the following prizes:
• Best Film Award
• Special Jury Award

8. OUT-OF-COMPETITION
a) The selection of the films, which is final and binding, is conducted by the Festival Organizers.
b) Entry to these sections is open to feature-length films and documentaries which were completed after September 1st, 2023. The date of the film’s first public screening is determinant. The Festival excludes from participation works that have already been screened in any way in Italy.

9. FILM REGISTRATION AND DEADLINE
a) There is a film registration fee for administrative expenses:
10 euros for short films
20 euros for documentaries
30 euros for feature films
These fees will be in effect until August 2nd. From August 3rd to September 6th, 2024, the rates will be increased. Films will be considered only if the fee is paid.
b) The official Festival registration form must be filled out online via FilmFreeway (www.filmfreeway.com). Submission fee is requested during the registration process. If a film is not selected, the submission fee cannot be refunded.
c) Copyright holders of the films who intend to participate in the Festival (in any section) must send a streaming link following the procedures indicated on the entry form, by and no later than September 6th, 2024.

10. INVITED FILMS AND DELIVERY OF PRINTS
a) Exclusively for the films invited to the Festival: the Programming Office will send a request for complete documentation and provide a list of required material.
b) Prints of films and videos invited to the Festival must arrive in Torino by and no later than November 8th, 2024, as per instructions which will be provided by the Programming Office.
c) Return shipping instructions must be communicated by and no later than December 1st, 2024.

11. FILM SCREENINGS
a) The program and screening times will be established by the Festival Organizers. Each film may be screened up to 4 times.
b) Foreign films will be screened in their original version with Italian subtitles. For non-English speaking films, the producers are invited - when possible - to provide an English subtitled print.
c) The Festival will publish the profiles of all the participating films on its official website www.torinofilmfest.org.
d) Copyright holders of the films participating in the Festival are asked to deposit a DVD or the file sent for the selection process in the Festival Archive or in another local film archive, for research purposes only. Authorization for such a deposit will be requested.

12. AWARDS
All the Festival prizes are awarded to the directors of the winning films (except for best actor/actress awards and best Screenplay Award).

13. GENERAL RULES
a) As part of the adoption of the 5050x2020 Initiative (the “Gender Equality Protocol”), TFF intends to promote gender equality and cultural diversity in all possible forms.
b) Shipping costs to and from Torino will be covered by the entrant, except when other agreements have been made with the Programing Office.
c) Films and videos are covered by an “all damages” insurance policy (including loss and theft) underwritten by the Festival while in their keeping (from the copy arrival till the outbound shipping). In case of misplacement or damage, the Festival Organizers will be responsible for the cost of a new copy according to current Italian rates.
d) The present rules and regulations have been drawn up in Italian and English. In case of dispute, the Italian version will be final.
e) Application for entry to the Festival constitutes unconditional agreement to all the rules and regulations herein, in agreement with the F.I.A.P.F. regulations.
f) The Festival Organizers reserve the right to make decisions on matters not specified herein. Any legal disputes shall fall under the jurisdiction of the Torino Courts.

Il regolamento di partecipazione è subordinato al “Regolamento per i festival cinematografici internazionali” edito dalla Federazione Internazionale delle Associazioni dei Produttori di Film (F.I.A.P.F.), che riconosce il Torino Film Festival come festival competitivo.

1. ORGANIZZATORI
Il Torino Film Festival è organizzato dal Museo Nazionale del Cinema. Esso è sovvenzionato principalmente dal Ministero della Cultura, dalla Regione Piemonte, dalla Città di Torino, dalla Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo e dalla Fondazione CRT. A questi si aggiungono associazioni e sponsor privati.

2. OBIETTIVI
Il Torino Film Festival si propone come luogo di incontro e confronto per il nuovo cinema internazionale nelle sue diverse prospettive e tendenze artistiche, con particolare attenzione alle cinematografie emergenti, ai giovani cineasti e agli indipendenti. Nelle sezioni competitive predilige la conoscenza e la diffusione di film di nuovi autori caratterizzati dall’originalità stilistica e formale.

3. DATA E DURATA
Il 42° Torino Film Festival si svolgerà da venerdì 22 novembre a sabato 30 novembre 2024, per la durata di nove giorni.

4. SEZIONI DEL FESTIVAL
Il Festival si articola in tre sezioni competitive:
• Concorso internazionale lungometraggi
• Concorso internazionale documentari
• Concorso internazionale cortometraggi

E nelle seguenti sezioni non competitive:
• Fuori Concorso: sezione dedicata alla produzione più interessante dell’anno in corso.
• Zibaldone: una sezione totalmente libera ed eterogenea, con titoli di ogni genere, senza nessun vincolo di durata, di formato, di data o di anteprima.
• Programma speciale (Retrospettiva)

5. CONCORSO INTERNAZIONALE LUNGOMETRAGGI
a) La selezione dei film avviene a cura e giudizio insindacabile della Direzione del Festival.
b) Possono partecipare a questa sezione lungometraggi di finzione e documentari terminati dopo il 1° settembre 2023. La data della prima proiezione pubblica è determinante. Sono accettate solo ed esclusivamente opere in anteprima mondiale e internazionale (salvo eccezioni decise dalla Direzione).
c) La Direzione del Festival nominerà una Giuria composta da almeno cinque persone, incaricata di assegnare i seguenti premi:
• Premio per il miglior film
• Premio speciale della Giuria
• Premio per la miglior sceneggiatura
• Premio per la migliore attrice
• Premio per il migliore attore

6. CONCORSO INTERNAZIONALE DOCUMENTARI
a) La selezione dei film avviene a cura e giudizio insindacabile della Direzione del Festival.
b) Possono partecipare a questa sezione documentari italiani e internazionali terminati dopo il 1° settembre 2023, di durata superiore a 52 minuti.
Sono accettate solo ed esclusivamente opere in anteprima italiana.
c) La Direzione del Festival nominerà una Giuria composta da almeno tre persone, incaricata di assegnare i seguenti premi:
• Premio per il miglior film
• Premio speciale della Giuria

7. CONCORSO INTERNAZIONALE CORTOMETRAGGI
a) La selezione dei film avviene a cura e giudizio insindacabile della Direzione del Festival.
b) Possono partecipare a questa sezione film italiani e internazionali terminati dopo il 1° settembre 2023 della durata massima di 30 minuti (titoli inclusi), senza alcuna preclusione di stile o di genere.
Sono accettate solo ed esclusivamente opere in anteprima internazionale e/o europea.
Non possono essere sottoposti alla selezione più di due titoli dello stesso autore.
c) La Direzione del Festival nominerà una Giuria composta da almeno tre persone, incaricata di assegnare i seguenti premi:
• Premio per il miglior film
• Premio speciale della Giuria.

8. FUORI CONCORSO
a) La selezione dei film avviene a cura della Direzione del Festival.
b) Possono partecipare a queste sezioni lungometraggi e documentari terminati dopo il 1° settembre 2023. La data della prima proiezione pubblica è determinante. Sono escluse dalla partecipazione le opere già proiettate in qualsiasi modo in Italia.

9. ISCRIZIONE DEI FILM E DATA DI SCADENZA
a) L’iscrizione dei film comporta il pagamento di una quota di registrazione a titolo di rimborso spese di segreteria:
10 euro per i cortometraggi
20 euro per i documentari
30 euro per i lungometraggi
Queste tariffe saranno in vigore fino all’2 agosto. Dal 3 agosto al 6 settembre 2024, le tariffe saranno aumentate. Saranno considerati per la selezione solo i film in regola con il pagamento della quota di iscrizione.
b) La richiesta di iscrizione al Festival deve essere inoltrata utilizzando FilmFreeway (www.filmfreeway.com). Durante l’inserimento dei dati verrà richiesto il pagamento della quota di iscrizione. Se un film non sarà selezionato, la quota di iscrizione non verrà rimborsata.
c) I titolari delle opere che intendono partecipare al Festival (in qualsiasi sezione) devono, entro e non oltre il 6 settembre 2024, inviare un link streaming, seguendo le procedure indicate nella scheda d’iscrizione.

10. FILM INVITATI E TRASPORTO DELLE COPIE
a) Solo per le opere invitate al Festival, l’Ufficio Programmazione si occuperà di richiedere una documentazione completa fornendo un elenco dei materiali richiesti.
b) Le copie dei film e dei video invitati al festival devono arrivare a Torino entro e non oltre l’8 novembre 2024, seguendo le istruzioni che verranno fornite dall’Ufficio Programmazione.
c) Le indicazioni per la restituzione delle copie di proiezione dovranno pervenire entro e non oltre il 1 dicembre 2024.

11. PROIEZIONE DEI FILM
a) Il calendario e gli orari delle proiezioni sono di esclusiva competenza della Direzione del Festival. Ogni film sarà proiettato sino ad un massimo di 4 volte.
b) I film stranieri saranno presentati in versione originale con sottotitoli italiani. Per i film parlati in una lingua diversa dall’inglese, si invitano i produttori dei film, quando possibile, a fornire al Festival una copia sottotitolata in inglese.
c) Il Festival curerà la pubblicazione delle schede delle opere presentate sul sito web ufficiale www.torinofilmfest.org.
d) I proprietari dei film presentati al Festival sono invitati a depositare un DVD o il file inviato per la selezione, per la conservazione presso l’archivio del Festival o altra cineteca cittadina, a esclusivi fini di studio. Autorizzazione per tale deposito sarà richiesta agli aventi diritto.

12. PREMI
Tutti i premi del Festival vengono attribuiti ai registi delle opere vincitrici (tranne i premi agli attori e agli sceneggiatori).

13. NORME GENERALI
a) Nell’ambito dell’adesione all’iniziativa 5050x2020 (Protocollo sull’uguaglianza di genere), il TFF intende promuovere la parità di genere e la diversità culturale in tutte le forme possibili.
b) Tutte le spese di spedizione dei film sono a carico dei proponenti (andata e ritorno), salvo diversa specifica indicazione concordata con l’Ufficio Programmazione.
c) Tutti i film (in qualsiasi formato) saranno assicurati da eventuali danni con una polizza di assicurazione “tutti i rischi” (comprensiva dello smarrimento o del furto della copia), stipulata a cura del Festival per tutto il periodo nel quale le copie rimarranno in suo possesso (dall’arrivo della copia alla partenza). In caso di smarrimento o di danneggiamento della copia, la responsabilità del Festival è comunque limitata al valore di ristampa della copia secondo le tariffe in vigore in Italia.
d) Il presente regolamento è redatto in italiano e inglese. In caso di problemi interpretativi, fa fede la versione italiana.
e) La richiesta di ammissione al Festival implica l’accettazione incondizionata del presente regolamento, in conformità con il regolamento della F.I.A.P.F.
f) La Direzione del Festival può prendere decisioni relative a questioni non previste dal presente regolamento. Per ogni eventuale controversia è competente il Foro di Torino.
