TOAST is the story of a young man who must face an unexpected diagnosis - he’s infertile. At the same time he is about to marry the love of his life. While wedding preperations are in full swing he must decide, whether to tell his beloved the truth.

Director Biography - Filip Hillesland

Writer/Director with polish and norwegian roots. After four years of psychology studies Filip chose to go to Warsaw Film School and study film directing. He has now finishing his final year and is preparing to make his diploma film in order to gain a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

His film after his first year - “TROPICAL ISLAND” - was nominated in the “Young Cinema” section at the 40th Film Festival in Gdynia and also in the Independent short film section at the 9th Film and Art Festival “Two Riversides”.

Up till now Filip has honed his skills on several polish feature productions and tv series as a Second Assistant Director.

Lately he has directed several new films including a drama called “TOAST” which premiered at the International ShortFest in Palm Springs. Two short documentaries – ISLAM and DUNIA – as part of an anti-discrimination project called “Web of tolerance”. He has also made a music video with the upcoming polish popstar Natalia Moskal for her song called FOREIGN STRANGER.

Director Statement

Filip is looking for new experiences and fresh stories which can be brought into film. He loves dramedys because he feels they are closest to what experiencing life is, but he believes that every story has it’s own needs therefore he explores different genres.
