Originally from Natchez, Mississippi. I lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a summer studying animation at the Atlanta College of Art. Once I completed high school, I attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford, Mississippi, taking art and film classes, while getting a minor in mass communications. After that, I lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming working at a dude ranch for a year. I then lived in Natchez for five years working as a graphic designer/photographer at a daily newspaper, The Natchez Democrat. I started working on Mississippi Madam, while doing some assistant editing work for the documentary, Talkin Bout the Blues. Subsequently I moved to New Orleans, LA and worked in media for nola.com.
