Tiger Child
The short documentary Tiger Child is a story about the 12-year old boy Santanu, who lives on an island in the river delta Sundarbans in eastern India. The surrounding islands are covered of mangrove jungle filled with honey. But inside the jungle lives the dangerous Bengal tiger.
The father and brother of Santanu goes to the jungle every day to collect honey and ensure the survival of their family. Santanu is afraid of the tiger and dreams of becoming an actor in Bollywood. But it’s difficult to become an actor and the father needs Santanus help in the jungle.
Tiger Child is a story about dreams, reality and destiny. And a story about the journey towards the jungle and adulthood.
Tiger Child was originally finished in 2015 as a part of Danidas Verdensbilledlegat 2015. In 2017 the crew has made a directors cut with a new edit and music.
