The Tibet Film Festival was founded in 2008 and is dedicated to Dhondup Wangchen, a self-taught Tibetan filmmaker, who was imprisoned for his film ‘Leaving Fear Behind’. The festival’s objective is to bring together the best of Tibetan filmmaking from inside Tibet and in exile and to be a meeting place for young Tibetan talents and thus contribute to the emergence of Tibetan filmmaking by solely focussing on Tibetan Filmmakers. This two-day film festival takes place simultaneously in Dharamsala (India) and Zurich (Switzerland).

There are Jury Awards for the Short, Feature and Documentary Film Competition as well as an Audience Award.

The Director must be of Tibetan origin. All Projects must be completed after January 2016.
